Singapore… you’re fantastic but surely not missed

After x number of years (at least 5), I came back to Singapore. This time it’s different. My sister is now working there (since last Dec) and a couple of cousins too. So I have more people to connect with, which is nice

My trip this time isn’t still around the same theme, which is shopping. It’s wonderful if you have plenty of dough to spend. It was exciting when I stepped into a new store, and even more exciting as they were having a sale. Usually this kind of sale is questionable for me. What store would have sale when they only open 6 months before? Well doesn’t matter, I haven’t been buying new clothes and it’s cool to have a new shirt or two that you can’t find in Bali.

The next day I went to a different area to look for something different, but malls are the one thing you can’t avoid in Singapore. I reached to the place by MRT, walk around til I could barely feel my feet. I tried to find a place to sit, but it seems the Singapore government and the mall management prefer people to keep walking and not to sit and have a rest. I found a place on the basement of a mall where people were queuing for taxi. Better than nothing.

Sat for a while and bought a snack, it was nice to give my feet a rest. I decided to go back. Went on to the MRT entrance, got in the subway and got off where I had to. And lo and behold, as I went upstairs I was yet in another mall. It was like you never left the mall! Trapped in mall-nation!!

OK, I thought it was another mall, no harm in checking out what they got to offer. And this mall proven not offering anything different. Mostly the same stores selling similar items. As I strolled store by store, I felt how obscene it was when people were fed with all these consumerism day by day and not much other options as an alternative. Oh well, everybody has their own choice where they would like to live. As long as they enjoy it, I suppose.

All in all it was OK. I might visit again some time while my sister is still there. Or she could always come to Bali and have some nature fix with me. :)
